Synopsis:
Since its premiere in 1964, the Unknown Patient has been staged more than a thousand times in Finland and abroad. The play's enormous popularity is based on its internal contradictions. In it, the administrators of a busy hospital make decisions regarding the care of the mentally ill without any real knowledge of the actual situation at the hospital. Then, due to a misunderstanding, the chairman himself winds up as a patient at the institution. Suddenly, as an unknown patient he is now confronted with his own earlier absurd degrees and decisions.
